Video interview: In successive "disengagements" in Ladakh, India has ceded ground to the Chinese

Karan Thapar interviews me on The Wire. We discuss Prime Minister Narendra Modi's “extremely damaging” statement in June 2020 statement, when he said there are no Chinese on Indian territory and never have been.

In saying this, soon after 20 Indian soldiers were killed by a Chinese lynch mob in Galwan River valley, Modi squarely endorsed China's claim that the Indian troops had entered Chinese territory.

In the interview, I also spoke at length about the earlier disengagements at Galwan, Pangong Lake and Gogra. In all three of these disengagements, buffer zones have come up in such a way that India can no longer patrol on territory that it claims as Indian and where previously Indian soldiers could patrol.
