In 2001, I reported from the front lines in Afghanistan the defeat of the Taliban and its eviction from Kabul, travelling with the Northern Alliance as they threw back the Taliban with the help of American air power and Special Forces.
Twenty years later, with US soldiers leaving Afghanistan and the Taliban making battlefield gains, the clock seems to be turning back to 1996, when the Taliban captured Kabul and imposed their fundamentalist government for the next five years.
Today, at 9:30 pm Indian Standard Time, join me on NDTV with Vishnu Som, who also reported from Afghanistan that year. Join us as we show you what we saw of the war that led to the liberation of Kabul.
