SUCCESSFUL FLIGHT TESTING OF AGNI-II

The Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) AGNI-II was successfully flight tested at 10:25 hrs by the Indian Armed Forces from Wheeler’s Island off the coast of Odisha.
The two stage vehicle launched from a mobile launcher has met all the mission objectives. Radars and Electro-Optical Tracking Systems located all along have tracked and monitored all the parameters of the vehicle.  Two ships located near the target point in the Bay of Bengal witnessed the final event.  The launch operations were witnessed by the DRDO scientists led by the Project Director Shri D.Lakshminarayana.  Programme Director Shri Avinash Chander, DS & CC R&D(MSS) guided the teams during all the critical operations. 
Dr. V.K. Saraswat, Scientific Advisor to Raksha Mantri was present alongwith top brass of Strategic Forces Command during the test firing.  The testing was done as part of the regular exercise of Strategic Forces Command.  Directors of DRDO Laboratories, Dr. VG Sekaran, ASL,       Shri MVKV Prasad, ITR, Shri Manjit Singh, TBRL alongwith other top DRDO scientists were present.

  1. I don't understand. Weren't these supposed to be operational a long time back. Why do they have to keep testing it Ajai Sir.

    1. There always updates and minor modification. This is just like u get windows service packs despite an operational Windows operating system.

  3. congrats ..if true..but then according to DRDO the yardstick for success is different...Nirbhay was also termed successful ( 80% whatever that means)
