That's the B47 Stratojet (WB-47E) - the first swept wing multi engine plane. I think this was the plane that flew 24x7 carrying the nuclear weapons at the height of the Cold War
ReplyDeletethis is a prototype of the B-47. What's special is that it was the only tandem seat bomber ever to enter service. I read from a biography of LeMay that he hated tandem seat aircraft and used his influence to change the B-52 prototype even though it cost the USAF much more.
ReplyDeleteSac boeing b-47 stratojet.
ReplyDeleteSpecial about this plane well it dropped a live nuke once.
This is the B-47 Stratojet of the Strategic Air Command.
ReplyDeleteThe swept wing design with engine below was a first, and apparently led to the modern jet airliner desgin.
Thank you google!
B 52 stratofortress - must be among the longest serving strategic bomber if not the longest..
ReplyDeleteB 52 Stratofortress - probably the longest continually serving strategic bomber
ReplyDeleteBoss my answer was posted on 28 July 2012 12:43 in the previous quiz. I repeat:
ReplyDeleteNext to N-17W is a WB-47E Stratojet on loan from the National Museum of Naval Aviation in Pensacola FL (serial 51-7066). 51-7066 is a six-engined strategic jet bomber that served the USAF Strategic Air Command from 1953 to 1963 and was redesignated as a WB-47 and flew weather reconnaissance missions with the US Navy into the 1970s.
I would only add to this that 51-7066 was the last operational B-47 that made its last flight on 30 October 1969. (Did I mention ace reporter and embodiment of the Cambrai spirit Ajai Shukla?)
Sir, thats a Boeing WB-47E Stratojet.
ReplyDeleteLink Here.. Your tip made it bit easy.
Still at the entrance to the Seattle air & Space museum, in the background is the B47 stratojet. Directly led to the development of the B707 passenger jet. The wing and engine pod design has been the std. for commercial aviation.
ReplyDeleteCujo
it is a B-47 bomber.
ReplyDeleteB-47 bomber.

ReplyDeleteHello what's the point of a quiz if you don't confirm that answer/winner(s)?
