Warship Identification Quiz... what are these fancy decoration pieces?

I encountered these smartly turned out vessels near where the Satpura was berthed. Which vessels are they? Best answer wins...

  1. middle one is the older Veer (Tarantul I) class missile boat armed with older P-20M Styx AShMs. Right and left are newer generation Kora Class missile corvettes armed with 16 cell KH-35 Uran anti-ship missiles.

  2. and O BTW, these won't appear as fancy decoration pieces to the Karachi harbor master.
History can be repeated if desired only now from a greater stand off distance.

  7. INS Prabal and INS Pralay on the left and right, with their 16 3M24E anti-ship missiles and OTO Melara 76mm main gun.

The one in the middle belongs to the Veer class K40-83 (most likely INS Veer but crest is obscured) equipped with four P-20M missiles and AK-76 76mm gun .

  9. All three are Veer (Tarantul I) class corvettes, with the ones on the left and right probably K91 and K92, Prabal & Pralaya (based on the 16 3M-24E missile fit), and the one in the centre is one of the older P-20M equipped units.

  12. @ Joydeep:

Congratulations! You managed to not only get all three ships wrong, but also the one in the background.

That is not the Viraat. It is the Vikrant.

If the navy is still wanking to the memory of the Karachi raid of 1971... and thinking of nothing more than replaying that tired song... we had better stop giving them all this fancy machinery!

But, since you raise the point, what is the stand-off distance that they can strike Karachi from now?

  14. With the Klub in service and the Brahmos installed on INS Rajput and INS Ranvir, Karachi can be targetted from approximately 300 km out to sea.

Of course a Sea Harrier + Sea Eagle combination can exceed that range but the question is regarding surface launched weapons.

  15. I would say Pralay and Prabal on either side and another non modified Veer class in the middle. Pralay and Prabal are the last 2 Veers with 16 Urans fitted. The others had 4 P20Ms.

  21. the middle one is a project 25 khukri class corvette and the other two are its cousin project 25A kora class.

  22. Middle one is definitely a Veer class Corvette
The ones on the left and right are definitely Kora class Corvettes.
All 3 have approximately similar sized beams, so they cannot be Frigates.

  23. "Tired Song" you say eh.. Ajai. Lest you forget every year Indian Navy commemorates the event as the Navy day. Now as far as repeating history goes you may as well add Gwadar port to the list this time. Bhanja has already answered the stand off distance question you posed.

And "Fancy Toys" you speak of are not just meant for the western fleet. You already know that Satpura's flagship sister Shivalik belongs to the eastern naval command meant for you know "Hu"

  26. From left to right, they are Pralaya,Veer and Prabal of K22 'Killers' Sqn.

Pralaya & Prabal are to the Pr. 12418M design that were locally built - at GSL and MDL - while Veer, the oldest of these Raketny Kater is a Pr 1241RE from Voladarky SY in Rybinsk.

Bhanja, you have come very close indeed!

Hey Ajay, what do I get for the prize? The original picture?

  27. My guess is from left to right:
K-91 INS Pralaya; K-48 INS Vidyut, K-92 INS Prabal.
