it is this place where INS-VIKRAMADITYA is in built ??
ReplyDeleteWould you do a feature on the OPV order that Pipavav received?
ReplyDeleteSome sources say that they got an award for SIX instead of five vessels.
No one has done a piece on these OPV. They are to a Russian Severnoye PKB design - believed to be around 110m long and possiblly displacing >2000 tons. Yantar Shipyard may also be a technical partner in this project.
Many business publications said they(shipyard) had their hands full with private tanker contracts.
ReplyDeleteThis is the only shipyard in india with a 600 ton crane and big slipways. Ideally GOI should have already started IAC-2 construction here. But no, they will spend good money and time on upgrading the Cochi shipyard after IAC1 is launched.
ReplyDeleteAjai, ask the is it possible for them to use the GTRE Kaveri marine engine in the ships they build. Ask them will such an engine reduce the cost of shipbuilding.
ReplyDeletehttp://frontierindia.net/kaveri-engine-gathers-momentum
In my interactions with their team, I have got the feeling that they have an excellent team of people with lot of energy and a "will do" attitude. This shows in the aggressive participation in the Naval / CG Shipbuilding program. However, the foundation strength will be visible once they start executing the projects on ground.
ReplyDeleteAjai sir
ReplyDeleteAs the world’s sixth largest shipping building facility and equipped with 500,000 deadweight tonnes (DWT) capacity, the Nikhil Gandhi shipyard recently won contract for series of 26 Panamax bulk carriers.
Its also looking for a 26% stake sale to foreign collaborator as well as go for a name change.
We don't have enough large Shipyards in India, atleast for fufill our needs. Its good to see private companies coming into this area.
ReplyDeleteIt will be a good move if we give half of remaining 8 corvettes and 12 Patrol ships order to these ship yards. Hoping that they will deliver it on time.
Please check the type of vessels it can build, particularly defence ships. How it plans to get the vessels like subs, carriers, destroyers built and what are the kind of workmenship it posses to grab the orders from defence psu. wish them all the best
ReplyDeleteAjaiji pls visit cochin shipyard for updates on IAC.
ReplyDeleteDear sir,
ReplyDeletewhat projects ate being held currently at pipavav shipyard?
thanks in advance for your reply.
Ajai , what orders pipavav has got from MoD.
ReplyDeleteWELL MR AJAY IT SEEMS TO BE A PRELIMINARY IMAGING IS IT SO...
ReplyDeleteThis is the state of art facility, due to strategic location of India, it can be a hub for ship reparing facility. India should start modular construction just as South Korea does.
ReplyDeleteAjai, ask them whether they will build OPV and NPOV's for the Brazilian Navy, that's whether they will bid for it?
ReplyDeleteAjai, ask them whether they can build the India's amphibious assault ships. The Navy is said to be looking for about 3-4 of these kind of ships. Can they build stealthy Amphibious vessels the design of which can be provided by Naval design bureau of the Indian Navy.
